Story Aside form being one of the longest ones ive spent time in trying to get, I was very very pleased to get this autograph as it had a special importance to me on a personal level.
My son was born in june 2008 and my wife and I chose to name him after the man himself, Ziggy Marley. So having a son
called Ziggy I wanted to get this portrait painted and signed so I could give it to him someday when he is old enough to understand it all.
I waited for about 9 hours for Ziggy Marley at the venue and as always especially with waits this long, I was very tired, exhausted, hungry
and in dire need of a toilet !
As I waited and waited on my own, I began playing the possible scenario of what might happen when Ziggy arrives. It was getting close
to the time of his show and I was concerned that the fence between us would pose a problem in my trying to get closer. As I began
to have big doubts of a success, I received a tip off as to where Ziggy Marley was staying whilst in Sydney and I chose to head there
And try to meet up with him as he set out to go to the venue.
I arrived at the hotel and within an hour a van arrived showing me signs that it was for Ziggy Marley and his band. Before long out came
walking Ziggy Marley ! I was so pleased and I explained to him that i'd named my son after him which he smiled about. I asked if he could
write the message, “ To Ziggy, From Ziggy “, which amused him and he willingy did, signing it Ziggy Marley.
I've met a handful of people in my time who have refused to sign paintings, I would have been most upset if Ziggy didn’t sign for me,
so if ever you read this Mr Marley, im eternally thankful, and look forward to the day my son will understand how special this painting is to me.
Thank you.
