Story

I met up with Sinead at Sydney airport in April 2008. I remember rushing to get to the airport in time for her arriving flight, it seems I’m always in a rush to get to these places! When I got there I saw a bunch of fans all happily chatting and showing each other their Sinead autographs, I asked then if I had missed Sinead and they told me she was still there at the luggage carousel, I looked over and there were swarms of people, I was asking “ Where? Where? I can’t see” and they kept pointing and saying, “She’s right there!”. As I looked closer I finally noticed her waiting, the reason I hadn’t seen her earlier was because I hadn’t expected her to be so short. She looked tiny hidden in the crowd of passengers collecting their luggage all unaware that Sinead O Connor was right beside them. I worked my way through the crowd and presenting a painting to Sinead I asked if she would sign another for me, she looked surprised and signed with no problem, however as is often the case, when I asked for a photo with her, she told me “no”, perhaps this was due to the fact she wasn’t in makeup or any kind of costume, she was wearing old jeans a blue vest and builders boots!.
