Story

Admittedly I’ve been a bit slow in taking on a liking of Mansons music, for quite sometime I was not very willing to listen to him, purely based on his appearance and theatrics, they kind of scared me a bit. However when I heard he was touring a lot of people were asking me to paint him, and I felt uncomfortable painting someone who’s music I don’t know or appreciate, so I began to listen to it and read and watch interviews with Manson to see what he was really like, I found myself growing to very much like his music and who he was, he’s actually quite different as a person to the image he portrays and more recently he seems to have toned down his shock rock status.

I met Manson at Sydney airport in October 07 and when he came off the plane to a small gathering of fans he was reluctant to approach due to flashing cameras of the paparazzi, he held back for a short while awaiting his personal security to assist him. An internal airport passenger car was waiting for Manson and his entourage, and when his security arrived he climbed onto the passenger car, as fans surrounded him asking for photos and autographs. It was all very rushed, and I was very lucky and fortunate to get Mansons attention from behind him. As he turned and leaned over to sign my painting his security tried to push me away as I yelled out to him that Manson was willing to sign for me. With that, the security backed off and Manson signed literally as the passenger car began to pull away with the remaining fans pursuing in chase on foot.
