Story

Though I cant claim to own all of Joes albums, I definitely love his voice and the guys a bit of legend, after all he was at Woodstock Joe toured here in Feb 2008. I think this was one of the first set of paintings where I decided to paint everything twice, just incase the artist decided to keep it. It wasn’t easy painting the exact same portrait twice, but it was a fun challenge and I was reasonably pleased with the outcome.

I met Joe at Sydney airport one evening and I remember I thought I was going to be late, I raced there in my car, even scored myself a speeding ticket ! Not for the first time. When I arrived a small handful of fans were there and I learned that Joes flight was running late and eventually found myself with the others waiting for about another hour or so.

When Joe came walking off the plane he was with one other guy, and Joe was wearing a baseball cap, I spotted him as he pulled his own luggage along, he looked over as he couldn’t miss my attention at holding up his portrait. He kindly stopped right before me and was more than eager to sign. As he did, I told him I had an extra portrait I had painted to offer him as a gift. He seemed very surprised that I had two and looked at the other guy with him smiling then was concerned at wear he could put it and told me he had no way to carry it around, he said he appreciated my efforts and kindly said he would sign the other painting for as well which left me with two autographed portraits of very unique guy in music. Joe Cocker is a very pleasant quiet spoken guy who made me feel very good about myself and appreciated..
