Story

This painting was prepared for Lloyd Coles tour which brought him to Sydney in early 06‘ I have always enjoyed Lloyd Coles music ever since I was about 12. He has a great voice and it’s a shame that he is not recognised today as well as what he was in the days of, The Commotions. (his band of the 80’s era)

Lloyd played at a great small Sydney bar, extremely intimate and I took my painting with me. Having seen Lloyd there a few years prior I felt it would be easy to approach him after his performance.

As Lloyd played, he often made fun of his status in the music world today in regards to popularity, this made his show even more enjoyable. At the end of the gig, he sat at a table signing Cd’s and having photographs. He was very friendly and appreciative, a guy who definitely deserves more recognition.
